The album, which was unveiled during a live-streamed press conference in Mexico City, follows up the lauded rock band’s 2014 release, El Pintor. Furthermore, to coincide with their album announcement, the band released a brand-new single, “The Rover”, in addition to the dates for a global tour, which will see the band perform with The Cure, The Kills, Sunflower Bean, Car Seat Headrest, and Snail Mail.Marauder was written in the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ rehearsal space. For the album itself, it was recorded between last December and this April on two-inch tape in upstate New York’s Tarbox Studios with Dave Fridmann, the famed producer who’s previously worked with Flaming Lips, MGMT, Spoon, Mogwai, and more.As noted in a press release, Interpol’s vocalist Paul Banks noted, “Marauder is a facet of myself. That’s the guy that fucks up friendships and does crazy shit. He taught me a lot, but it’s representative of a persona that’s best left in song. In a way, this album is like giving him a name and putting him to bed.”You can listen to the first single off Marauder, “The Rover”, below. You can also find the full track listing for Interpol’s upcoming album, plus their newly announced tour dates below. Tune into The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight, June 8th, to hear Interpol live debut the new tune.last_img
