Forestry Field Day Scheduled In Jennings County

first_imgVERSAILLES, Ind. —  The Historic Hoosier Hills Woodland Committee will be holding a free Forestry Field Day on Saturday, October 25, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.  The field day will be held in Nebraska, Indiana at Parrish Woods (owned by Joe Schuerman).The Forestry Field Day will highlight the following topics:Creating a successful Regeneration Opening – Natural Regeneration vs. Spot Planted Seedlings;State & Federal Cost-Share Assistance Programs;Individual Tree Selection Harvest & Follow-up Timber Stand Improvement; andTimber Sale Process – Important Elements of a Successful Timber Sale.Presentations will be given by consulting and state foresters.Light refreshments will be provided.  This is an outdoor event please dress for outdoor conditions and moderate walking.  Directions to Parrish Woods are turn on County Road 550 North in Nebraska from Highway 50.  Parrish Woods is located east of the “T” intersection of County Road 550 North and County Road 750 East.  Drive though open gate and parking will be along the lane.Reservations are not required but appreciated by October 23, 2014, by calling 812-689-4107 or email [email protected] Hoosier Hills Woodland Committee is a volunteer non-profit organization made up of landowners, professional foresters, and others interested in woodland conservation in southeastern Indiana.  The goal of this committee is to provide leadership for enhancement of economic conservation, improvement, and wise use and development of the area’s woodland resources.last_img
