first_imgCarnival AustraliaCarnival CruiseCarnival SpiritCarnival SplendorcruiseCruise Australia A number of announcements were made in Carnival ‘Fun’ style at the recent 2018 World’s Leading Cruise Lines Summit hosted on board Majestic Princess.As reported in Travel Monitor in February this year, Carnival Splendor will be the newest and largest ship home ported year-round in Australia when she arrives in Sydney in December 2019.Carnival Australia has now announced the new features designed for Carnival Spendor. The ship, which will sail year-round from December 2019 and has a capacity for 3700 guests, is currently undergoing a transformation.The 14-deck high ship will include two water slides and two splash parks, giving little passengers their own special water park separate to one for bigger children. A more spacious adults-only Serenity Retreat is also planned.At the summit, Jennifer Vandekreeke, Vice President Carnival Cruise Line Australia and New Zealand spoke of the growing market they are seeing on board Carnival – a sector Carnival terms the ‘honeyboomers’ – couples with older kids who have left them at home to enjoy some alone time.“The people who have a great time on our ships are families and honeyboomers,” said Vandekreeke. “Our main market are couples between 35 and 55, with and without their children,” she said.It was also announced that from October 2020, Carnival Spirit, home ported year-round in Sydney will be repositioned to Brisbane, it’s new home port at the new Brisbane cruise terminal.All agent delegates in attendance at the Summit will be going on an initial cruise on Splendor – an agent overnight famil on December 10 from Sydney.In good news for Australians wanting to travel further afield with Carnival, the Carnival Panorama will be the first new Caribbean ship to be deployed on the West Coast of the US in 20 years, sailing from Long Beach, Los Angeles, meaning Australians can reach the embarkation port in LA with one direct flight. Carnival Panorama will feature the popular Skyride, a massive water park, tropic-inspired state rooms and suites that can accommodate five guests.  L-R: Having some fun with the agent delegates were (L-R) Lance Dye, Jennifer Vanderkreeke, Anton Loeb and Terry Thornton.Travel agents are invited to join the company’s agent-only Facebook page, Carnival Fun Zone. last_img
